I love strategising, I love to think about what steps are needed to get to a specific outcome. I love to be right on the long run.
This triggers my dopamine better than anything else.
Maybe also the reason I studied strategic management in the first place. It brought me a way more dopamine heavy student life than other boring stuff.
But dopamine can be dangerous, like it gets us addicted to social media, alcohol or even worse things.
So be careful where you get your dopamine get from.
In terms of work and business, dopamine has it dangers too. Like stated above. Many people including myself get dopamine hits working on strategy.
Till a certain level this is okay, but be careful where you get your dopamine from at work too.
But what is the right thing you should get it from?
It’s ACTION.
Like Sahil said right in this post, the best indicator if a founder team, a business turnaround or a working org will succeed, is action.
A great investor will never invest in your idea, even if better than Google, if you can’t show a track record of action.
I know what you think now, but action in the wrong direction can be counter productive…
Yes but there are loads of studies all over the place, that show going for action lead to better team outcomes on the long run. Because teams which choose action for dopamine are most of the time faster in pivoting as well.
Taking action is the key to full fill strategic plans into reality.
So get your dopamine form action and always stay curious.
