Time: 3.10 Minutes
We’ve all been there. You sit down to write a cold email, agonize over every word, rewrite the subject line ten times, hit send…
And hear nothing back.
So you assume the writing was the problem and you start the whole painful cycle again.
Here’s what I learned over the years: the copy is almost never what’s broken.
There’s an other order to debugging this, start with the right person, in the right company…
Then you can start thinking about subject line, messaging, materials… and so on. Most founders skip straight to the copy and never check the rest.
The real lever is targeting. A flawless email to the wrong title will never sell. Look at who actually answered you before on cold outreach. This is where you find the need which makes people answer.
And afterwards in writing, keep it human.
One sentence on what you do, a low-pressure ask, a couple of follow-ups. And use your customers’ own words.
They write better copy than you ever will.
So stop reaching out to anyone, be curious and an listen to their signals.
