There’s a relentless pull in business toward the new.
New users, new markets, new features to convince strangers to sign up. Growth dashboards reward it.
Everyone’s chasing the people who haven’t said yes yet.
But one of the most underrated pleasures in building anything good is making it better for the people who already chose you. They’ve already committed.
They already trust you. And too often they get ignored while all the energy is poured into acquisition.
That’s backwards.
Your existing users are your best marketing, they refer, they renew, they defend you.
Delighting them and growth compounds quietly underneath you. Neglect them and you’re filling a leaky bucket, spending fortunes to replace people you already had.
Churn can be your biggest enemy and can bring even good products to fall.
So ship things that make current customers smile, not just things that look good in a launch. Loyalty is cheaper than acquisition and worth far more.
Take care of the people who already believe in you. They’re the whole business.
So build for the people who are already here and stay curious.
