The best entrepreneurial bets are asymmetric: you risk almost nothing, for a few weeks, small money, mild embarrassment, but the upside is uncapped.
That’s a good lottery ticket. Tiny downside, huge potential, and fast signal on whether it works.
Most founders you admire didn’t strike gold first try. They cycled through dozens of ideas before one compounded.
The genius wasn’t the idea, it was the volume. Each ticket taught them what customers actually pay for versus what merely sounds clever in a notebook.
The mistake is treating every idea like a marriage. It’s not. It’s a ticket. Buy it cheap, test it fast, read the signal honestly. No real traction in ninety days?
No sunk-cost guilt, move on to the next one.
Collect tickets relentlessly. Ship faster than feels comfortable. The winner is rarely idea one, it’s usually seven, eight, or even twelve.
So get more shots on goal and stay curious.
