European professionals obsess over credentials and expertise. But while we collect certificates, opportunists with figure-it-out mentality capture whole markets.
This fixation on formal qualifications is strangling European innovation. Therefore you should embrace to be a figure it out person…
But how can you get one?
Here are some directions to get you going:
Mindset comes first.
You must decide, today, that you ARE someone who figures things out. Not when you're more qualified. Now!
Speed beats perfection every time.
Give yourself 15 minutes maximum for initial research. One Google search. One YouTube video. One credible source.
That's enough preperation.
“Simple” action over analysis.
Try the most obvious solution immediately. Failed?
Adjust. Try again. BUT, keep it simple.
Momentum trumps perfection every single time.
Yet most people choose endless preparation over just doing it. Why?
We're taught that you need to know everything before you start. That failure is shameful.
More crucial, too many think that you need permission from someone "above you" to try something new.
Schools reward memorizing facts over solving real problems. Companies promote people who avoid mistakes, not people who get things done quickly.
The cost hits you personally.
While you're still researching and planning, someone else already launched three versions and figured out what actually works.
We debate market strategies instead of testing small experiments.
We theorize about customer needs instead of asking customers directly.
Most critically, we've forgotten that customers reward results, not resumes.
Markets don't care about your PhD when competitors solve problems faster.
Your superpower as a generalist isn't deep expertise, it's pattern recognition across fields. You see connections specialists miss.
Stop waiting for permission. Stop collecting qualifications.
Start figuring it out.
So keep testing, and stay curious.
