#1 🗣️ Why you need to repeat yourself often and always with Leah Tharin 🇨🇭
Communication is hard. Doing this right, is nearly an impossible job. But necessary for success.
Communicating in a three person founder team seems easy. But as a company grows, it is getting harder and harder.
Just to give you an example. Three people have three communication channels between each other, four people already six and a team of five have ten.
Now think of a 1000 people growth startup. Yes this is why that topic is so hard…
Let’s give you an other interesting thought.
The following picture shows how long humans are able to remember details of informations.
The pink curve is without repeating, the blue lines with a recall or more recalls of the same information.
As you can see, people need recalls to save the information and are able to remember it.
This is the reason why you have to repeat yourself often and constantly.
This also proofs why facts are often not “clear” to everyone in a company or a team. Even if you think everyone “should” understood this core information, process or fact already.
Good leaders know this.
And if you want to become one, you should maybe following up on your key messages more often.
To go down the rabbit hole continue here, Leah will got your back…
Especially in large corps, you have to tell about your projects to everyone at every time. Again and again.
#2 ✍️ How to write the perfect email with military precision 📩
Writing emails, is maybe the most boring task in the current corporate world. You have to do it, but nobody wants to.
But on the other hand, a well written and timed email can save you millions of revenue, getting you the job offer you always wanted or even helps in terms of a promotion.
So writing emails should be a efficient job, and who needs efficiency day in and day out?
Right, the military.
Because writing emails in the military can save lives in the end.
Here’s the key framework
Use key words: ACTION, SIGN, INFO, DECISION… You get the point, state directly in the subject what you want from the recipient.
TLDR at the start: Start with a 1-2 sentences summary. Give an overview first, then get into the specifics.
Stay as short as you can: Cut everything which is not adding to the message or is only repeating what you already said.
This are just three easy points, but they will change your game of writing emails to your colleagues forever.
Of course this need some practice, but you may find that other people of the team will adapt to this quickly.
If you want to dig deeper here, this is the full article with examples…
We use these key words also for meeting agenda’s. So everyone of the team knows what have to be the outcome of each agenda topic upfront.
