Why you need to be enthusiastic at work
Because a positive outlook increases value generation everywhere

Looking into years of experience and different working environments is making one thing clear:
If you are just long enough at a specific company, you will find doomsday mindsets around you everywhere.
Even the most enthusiastic people will turn at some point to depressed nosayers.
To get more precise...
A lot of working environments are full of folks enduring the typical black and white thinking.
There is everything doomed tomorrow or they think competition will be so way ahead that they never ever will be close again.
From time to time some optimists will flood into the company, but as long as they are not too many or not have enough powerful positions behind them, the pessimistic majority will push them down. (or away)
But how to escape from this doomsday future...
A realistic view on optimism
For the start?
Just remind yourself that rarely any situation can't be turned around. Maybe except bankruptcy.
Often many people and managers with pressure think of the outcome before they put in the work and resources, in the first place.
Prediction and forecast turns so often out wrong that it should be only a minor part of decision making.
Just to bring in also some science backed reasons not to see doomed situations everywhere, think of the Lindy Effect.
Means that, is something out there for quite some time and working since a while, it will be with a high percentage still working for the same amount of time in the future.
In simple words, if your operations/services are working since ten years they won't disappear tomorrow.
So often the situation is not that bad, like the naysayers think.
But how can you or others get an enthusiastic mindset for the future?
Building a positive mindset
The trick is not to wait until the timing or conditions turn out to be so good that you get an optimistic view of the situation or the future.
This will probably not happen at all.
It's about getting into action. Even with a non-optimistic view you have to start to change something you can right now.
Means, jump on that sales call. Work in the product. Do what you can.
With action you build momentum. With momentum you build confidence. With confidence you build a positive mindset and outlook.
You bring you or your team into the position to actually change something.
Why you need to be optimistic anyway
Like said before, except you are facing bankruptcy or equal, you should learn to be optimistic at all times.
To be honest, more people should understand that we all get paid for to be optimistic in our jobs. We are usually in that position because we have the skills to change the trajectory into a positive outcome.
I also believe that the great innovative outliers in terms of market performance are that good because they employ more people with an optimistic approach than doomers.
So to turn your company into one of the best in their field, you probably have to turn everyone to an optimistic mindset.
