You Can't Win On Hours
Why outworking others won't work
Time: 3.10 Minutes
You can’t outwork the world. Someone, somewhere, is just as hungry, probably even hungrier.
Putting in 1,001 hours against someone’s 1,000 doesn’t tip anything. You’re overrating your effort and underrating theirs.
Worse is management celebrating people who are always around as having “work ethic.”
That’s not ethic, that’s someone overworked and mistaking presence for value.
Real work ethic is simpler: do what you said, respect the work, don’t waste people’s time, don’t be the bottleneck. Be someone others can count on.
People actually get ahead through talent, timing, selling ideas, reading people, knowing which details matter. Not hours logged.
Drop the outwork myth. It won’t get you ahead, and it definitely won’t get you calm.
So find your pace and stay curious.
